I have been using Bose aviation headsets since 1992. Started out with the very basic hard plug into aircraft with the clear plastic backings to exposed the circuitry. Then, as I became a flight instructor in the late 90s, I purchased the Bose X. Then, when I became a jet pilot in the early 2010s, I purchased the A20s. This month, I purchased the A30s and got to fly with them on a three day trip consisting of nearly 20 hours of flight time. Unfortunately, in comparison to the A20s, the A30s just don’t feel as high of quality. The sound of attenuation and the microphone are the two big pluses between the A20s and the A30s, however, the lack of clamp force when rolling out on the runway after landing, causes the vibrations of the aircraft to bleed through the noise canceling of the headset. Additionally, when collapsing the headset and hanging it up getting ready for the next leg, they feel extremely plastic and fragile. The A30s will do a great job as a pilots tool, but I think the A20s are a better purchase option.

Upon initial unpacking and a quick fit I was impressed with the lightweight and excellent fit around my ears. Initial flight was on a very hot day and I had no problems on an over a hour flight. Headset remained in place and cancelled noise amazingly. Passenger was able to hear me clearly and when hooked to my Garmin Pilot app I could even hear altitude and traffic warnings clearly. All in all a great investment.

Absolutely fantastic headset! Com quality is excellent, ANR is great for GA planes and music sounds great! The headset is fairly bulky compared to other options but it is very comfortable. I feel like the ear cups are a bit smaller than some other options but they work fine for me. All in all, it’s a really nice piece of equipment!

Way more comfortable on longer rides than the A20 and the tap functionality on the ear cups works great! All around great quality product! The free bluetooth speaker as part of the promotion is pretty sweet too! :)

There’s simply nothing better than a set of A20’s ….. unless you want an even crisper sound due to the A30 being digital (A20 - analogue) …. Unmatched comfort and performance from the A30’s .. just buy them !
