Frequently Asked Questions
What platforms does the Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS Neo Ace Combat 8 Edition work with?
This is the PlayStation edition, designed for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC running Windows. It connects over a single wired USB-C cable, so you plug it in and take off.
Is the Ace Combat 8 game included with this HOTAS?
No. The game is sold separately. This is the officially licensed Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve controller, and it is scheduled to release on October 2, 2026, the same day Bandai Namco launches the game.
Can I play Ace Combat 8 on a PlayStation 4 with this controller?
The controller itself works on PlayStation 4, but Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC only. On a PlayStation 4 you can still use the HOTAS with other PS4 flight titles that support a USB flight stick.
How many axes and buttons does it have?
Seven control axes including the Z-axis, read at 16 bit resolution, plus 16 action buttons, a rapid-fire trigger, and a multidirectional hat switch. There is also a mini-stick on top of the grip.
Does it have vibration or force feedback?
It has a vibration motor built into the grip, which fires on missile impacts, cannon bursts, and turbulence. That is rumble feedback in your hand, not a force feedback system that actively pushes the stick back against you.
What is H.E.A.R.T. technology?
H.E.A.R.T. stands for HallEffect AccuRate Technology, Thrustmaster's magnetic sensor system. It is used on the main axes of this HOTAS and, paired with 16 bit resolution, is what keeps small stick inputs accurate as the controller racks up hours.
Can the throttle be separated from the stick?
Yes. The throttle is detachable. Keep it attached and rest the whole unit on your lap, or split the throttle off and set it on a desk or table beside the stick, whichever suits how you sit.
How do I control rudder and yaw?
Two ways, both built in. Twist the stick on its Z-axis, or use the tilting rocker lever on the throttle. That means you can fly a complete mission without adding a separate set of rudder pedals.
How fine are the stick and throttle inputs?
Seven control axes including the Z-axis are read at 16 bit resolution, and the main axes use Thrustmaster's H.E.A.R.T. HallEffect AccuRate Technology magnetic sensors. At that resolution a small stick or throttle movement registers as its own input rather than being rounded into the next one.
How does it connect, and is a cable included?
It is a wired USB-C controller and the USB-C cable is included in the box. One cable carries the connection to a PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, or PC.
What comes in the box?
The T.Flight HOTAS Neo Ace Combat 8 Wings of Theve Edition, a USB-C cable, and the warranty leaflet with the user manual.
How is this different from the Xbox version?
Platform support and the part number, and nothing else about the hardware. This PlayStation edition is Thrustmaster part 4160947 and covers PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. The Xbox counterpart is the Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS Neo Ace Combat 8 Wings of Theve Edition for Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC, Thrustmaster part 4460335. PilotMall carries a full range of flight sim controls. Check out our Thrustmaster flight sim controls collection for more options.
