Roswell Air Races

The National Championship Air Races is the premier closed-course air racing event in the United States, where aircraft race wingtip to wingtip around a course marked by pylons rather than against the clock. Held at Reno for decades, the event now runs at Roswell Air Center in Roswell, New Mexico. The 2026 National Championship Air Races run September 16 through 20, 2026, at Roswell Air Center in Roswell, New Mexico. Gates open at 7:30 AM with racing through the afternoon each day. Because the merchandise is dated to each running of the event, the 2026 lineup is released in the weeks leading up to the races.

The event runs seven classes: Biplane, Formula One, Jet, Sport, STOL Drag, T-6, and Unlimited. Each class flies its own course and has its own character, from the tight low-speed turns of the Biplane class to the outright speed of the Jet and Unlimited fields.
