The Learjet 55, also known as the Longhorn, got its nickname thanks to its distinctive high-strength aluminum winglets. These NASA-developed winglets helped reduce drag and improve performance on Lear’s first mid-sized jet aircraft.
When it was released in 1979, the LJ55 promised a wide 5’9” cabin with 18” more headroom than previous LJ offerings. Although the LJ55 was originally used as an executive jet, many of the Learjet 55s still in service today are flown as medical transports. The large cabin and strong fuel economy make them perfect for the air ambulance role.
The LJ55 has a maximum speed of 470 knots and a cruising speed of 401 knots. Its range is 1,800 nautical miles, and the altitude ceiling is 45,000 feet. Power is provided by two aft-mounted Garrett T731-2A-3B turbo fanjet engines that each produce 3,700 pounds of thrust.
This stunning Limited-Edition Learjet 55 Large Mahogany Model is handcrafted from the finest mahogany wood. The high-quality design captures every detail of the LJ55.
