Shortly after its completion in the summer of 1931, the distinctive racing biplane won the first Bendix Trophy air race, piloted by none other than famed WWII hero James H. "Jimmy" Doolittle. Everything from its main wheel fairings to the tight cowling over its Pratt & Whitney "Wasp Jr." R-985 radial to the angle & curvature of its airfoils is amazingly identical to the production airplane.
