As long as there is "one sparkplug left"-the 26th Troop Carrier Squadron

A significant reason why the allies were victorious in WWII was that they had the resources to train pilots for the fight. Without proper training, airman lack competency, and unprepared airmen cant support the troops that depend on an aerial lifeline for supplies and evacuation. The 26th Troop Carrier Squadron was one of the units that were responsible for ensuring that pilots were ready for the challenges theyd face when they flew into combat. Part of the U.S. Army Air Corps 89th Troop Carrier Group, the 26th Troop Carrier Squadron was based at various places in the United States during the war, including Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts. Often a pilots first experience with a C-47 was under the guidance of the 26ths capable instructors.

Training and readiness were keys to victory, and that is why AAC is proud to feature the logo of the 26th Troop Carrier Group this t-shirt. The emblem displays a paratrooper with a Tommy Gun riding a gold-tipped sparkplug into battle. The meaning behind this image superimposed on a sky blue field is simple: As long as one sparkplug remained firing in an engine, the 26th Troop Carrier Squadron would faithfully be ready to keep soldiers headed toward the enemy.
