Description

The Boeing 747 is a widebody commercial airliner and cargo transport, often referred to by its original nickname, Jumbo Jet, or Queen of the Skies. It is among the world's most recognizable aircraft, and was the first widebody ever produced. The four-engine 747 uses a double deck configuration for part of its length. It is available in passenger, freighter and other versions. Boeing designed the 747's hump-like upper deck to serve as a first class lounge or extra seating, and to allow the aircraft to be easily converted to a cargo carrier by removing seats and installing a front cargo door.

This specific 747 model is the 747-400, which is a major development and the best-selling model of the 747 family. The 747-400 retained the four-engine wide-body layout of its predecessors, but embodies numerous technological and structural changes to produce a more efficient airframe. It is equipped with a two-crew glass cockpit, more fuel-efficient engines, a horizontal stabilizer fuel tank, and revised fuselage/wing fairings. The aircraft also features an all-new interior with upgraded in-flight entertainment architecture. The 747-400 entered service in February 1989, and the last one was delivered in December 2009.

This specific model is painted in the Delta Airlines paint scheme. Delta Airlines is a major United States airline headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. They are the sixth-oldest operating airline by foundation date, and the oldest airline still operating in the United States.

This handcrafted model is painstakingly molded from pressure cast composite resin by our skilled craftsmen with a wealth of detail and makes a great gift for any veteran, aviation enthusiast or history buff.
