Description

The Lockheed Ventura was a bomber and patrol aircraft of World War II, used by United States and British Commonwealth forces. Venturas were initially used for daylight raids on occupied Europe. However, they proved unsuited to this task, because (like many other bombers used by the RAF), they were too vulnerable without long-range fighter escorts. The Venturas were gradually transferred to patrol duties with Coastal Command.

This specific Ventura is the PV-1 variant, which was a version built for the U.S. Navy. Upgrades included an inclusion of special equipment (adapting it to its patrol bombing role), an increased fuel capacity and increased range. The PV-1 began to be delivered in December 1942, and entered service in February 1943.

This handcrafted model is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen with a wealth of detail and makes a great gift for any veteran, aviation enthusiast or history buff.
