Frequently Asked Questions

What types of aeronautical charts does this plotter work with?

The ASA Ultimate Rotating Plotter is designed for all types of VFR aeronautical charts. It includes 8 scales covering every aeronautical chart type, making it the only rotating plotter to handle all chart formats in a single tool.

How does the rotating azimuth work for course plotting?

The rotating azimuth delivers direct course readouts without the tedious calculations required by traditional plotters. You align the azimuth to the chart and read the course bearing directly, which significantly reduces flight planning time.

Does it measure in nautical miles or statute miles?

It measures both. One side of the plotter provides nautical mile measurements and the flip side displays statute miles, plus an integrated conversion scale that bridges air and ground navigation requirements.

What is this plotter made of, and can it handle cockpit heat?

It is constructed from premium Lexan aircraft-grade plastic. That material is specifically chosen to withstand the extreme cockpit temperatures that would warp or crack inferior plotters.

How long is the ASA Ultimate Rotating Plotter?

It measures 13 1/4 inches in length, which provides optimal reach across standard aeronautical chart formats.

Does this plotter come with a warranty?

Yes, ASA covers it with a lifetime warranty, reflecting their decades of aviation expertise and commitment to pilot safety.

Can I use this plotter instead of a flight computer for course calculations?

The plotter handles course direction and distance measurement on VFR charts via its rotating azimuth and 8 scales. It is a navigation plotting tool, not a flight computer, so it does not perform wind correction or time-speed-distance calculations that an E6B flight computer handles.
