It Works
I am a Private Pilot with less than 100 hours, I have used this item in the Socata TB-10 and the Cessna 172.
This item works very well with my non-cellular iPad. Although it would benefit from the utilization of a longer battery life, I love it and will use it until I decide to get a joint ADSB-in and GPS unit.
