Sam Lyon's love of aviation since childhood led him down the road to his present career as a world-renowned aviation artist. His paintings can be found at military bases, museums, aviation gift shops, and in pilots' art collections throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Through his membership in the Air Force Art Program, Sam's painting "Lead Solo" graces the Air Force Art Hall in the Pentagon.
"Shellightning" puts the spotlight on a spectacular Lockheed Orion 9C. Jimmy Doolittle purchased this airplane when he became the vice president of Shell. He took it to air races to promote Shell aviation fuel. Designed in 1931 the Orion is one of the most classic designs in the aeronautical field. Sam did extensive research to get all the details right including the lightening bolts positioned across the plane's name This print is produced on acid-free, neutral-pH paper with permanent inks and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
