The L-188 Electra is an American turboprop airliner built by Lockheed. The L-188 first flew in 1957, and was the first large turboprop airliner produced in the United States. Unfortunately after two fatal crashes, no further orders were placed - only 170 were built. However, many were modified as freighters and the type continues to operate in various roles into the 21st Century.
