Description

The DC-7 is an American transport aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company from 1953 to 1958, and was the last major piston engine powered transport made by Douglas. The DC-7 was born when American Airlines requested an aircraft that could fly the USA coast to coast non-stop in about eight hours. The prototype flew in May 1953 and American received its first DC-7 in November, inaugurating the first non-stop east-coast-to-west-coast service in the country. This specific DC-7 model is the DC-7B, which has slightly greater power and on some fuel tanks were added in longer engine nacelles.

This specific model is painted in the American Airlines paint scheme. American Airlines is a major U.S. airline headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. American Airlines operates an extensive international and domestic network, with scheduled flights throughout North America, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific.
