The 90th Fighter Squadron began in 1917 with Salmson biplanes. The squadron has come a long way in its more than 100-year existence, flying F-22 Raptors out of Elmendorf AFB in Alaska now. Pilots from the 90th have flown missions in every major conflict since World War I.
The squadron combat patch shows a red pair of dice in mid-roll with the play on words: "Pair-O-Dice." Make no mistake, though. These pilots aren't gamblers. They leave nothing to chance. If you had to bet, though, you'd better put your money on the 90th.
