Some of the most compelling narratives to come from the Second World War can be found in the stories of the thousands of young men, barely out of their teens, flying dangerous bombing missions over occupied Europe and Germany. A few of these courageous souls belonged to the 708th Bombardment Squadron. Flying their B-17 Flying Fortresses from RAF Rattlesden in England, the crews of the 708th ran a gauntlet of enemy fighters and flak to destroy V-1 launch sites, oil production facilities, and submarine pens. The 708th Bombardment Squadron directly supported the beach landings on D-Day, participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and helped decimate German industry during the "Big Week" campaign of 1944.
The Aeroplane Apparel Company is pleased to honor the gallant airmen of the 708th Bombardment Squadron with this great t-shirt. The squadron emblem of the 708th is featured front-and-center, depicting a silhouette of a B-17 flying through a field of orange. The Flying Fortress is dropping a stick of three massive bombs that leave a light blue-violet trail in the atmosphere as they streak toward their enemies below. The design and colors of the 708th Bombardment Squadrons crest symbolize their mission and their bold willingness to fly into harms way.
