Ferocious striking power-The 643rd Bombardment Squadron

As the Allied forces prepared for D-Day, one of the primary pieces of that complex operation was air support. It was the job of the U.S. Army Air Corps 643rd Bombardment Squadron to soften the German defenses in preparation for the landings and to support the ground troops as they advanced inland. First flying the A-20 Havoc, and later the A-26 Invader, the 643rd dropped bombs on airfields, V-1 "Buzz Bomb" launch sites, railway bridges, and enemy supply depots. The 643rd Bombardment Squadron provided critical air support to General Pattons Third Army as they dashed across France, and they helped keep American hopes alive as they pounded German positions during the Battle of the Bulge.

The Aeroplane Apparel Company is proud to feature the emblem of the intrepid 643rd Bombardment Squadron on this handsome t-shirt. The 643rds logo features a stubborn and ferocious gamecock, wearing a pilots helmet and goggles, superimposed on an ultramarine blue rectangle. The Gamecock spits a bomb from his razor-sharp beak, symbolizing the contempt that the 643rd had for their enemies. The Gamecocks angry expression, bright red comb and beard, and the field of vibrant blue were emblematic of the 643rd Bombardment Squadrons fearless and faithful determination in the face of danger.
