The 1st Reconnaissance Squadron, masters of advanced military aerial mapping, assessment photography, and accurate reconnaissance, captured the enemy combatant's photogenic side, without them even knowing. Because of our expert candid camera connoisseurs, we see numbers of troops, their route movements, and resupply efforts. With greatest comfort, we could surmise what was going on in the minds of their command structure, giving us advanced warning, in real-time, so we can have more allowance to outmaneuver the enemy. Then, our courageous men and women would capitalize on this juicy intelligence. And we were now ahead of the game. As they say, knowing is half the battle.
Today, we gratefully appreciate the heroic deeds of the 1st, they were one of many WWII wartime pioneers who helped progress the art of tactical enemy observation, while their lives lay in peril. Now, because of their experiences, our forces can achieve astoundingly detailed levels of intelligence as they occur. Nearly akin to a magic crystal ball, any time, day or night, throughout all manners of wind, rain, and weather.
Note in the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron patch, above two clouds, a bird of prey wearing pilot goggles, with both its wings spread for maximum lift while aloft. The classic combat camera aimed directly downwards, held in the talons, with one eye closed, peering through the viewfinder, to get the best sight picture. In the background is a dark blue disc, ringed by a yellow circle, trimmed with two thin black lines.
