Great for starving CFIs

After going through two cheap headsets in my 4-1/2 years of flying, I decided to spend a little more and hopefully get a longer-lasting, lighter headset with less clamping pressure. The HS200 weighs only about 11 ounces. It provides noise reduction as well as any other passive headset I've used, but it does so without the excessive clamping force of most cheaper passive headsets. Any GA pilot knows that excessive weight and clamping force in a headset can cause significant discomfort after about an hour in the air. The HS200 has yet to cause me any discomfort in flight. I only give it a rating of 4 because it's not an ANR (noise cancelling) headset.

Best headset ever!

I have tried every style David Clark, Lightspeeds including the Zulu and lots of time with the bose X. These Beyerdynamic headsets are far superior to any headset I have used. This has German build quality and the company makes top of the line studio headsets also. This is the most clear sounding headset ever. This passive headset seems quieter than my Bose X in my Decathlon. This weighs only 11 ounces and is more comfy than anything. NO CLAMPING PRESSURE. I can't believe how much sound it blocks. They sell 3 different types of earseals for your preference. This kills the Bose X and it is only $269.00. Trust me on this. I bet the anr is awesome, I just like simple better.

Beyerdynamic HS 200 T

The 30 db NRR is misleading. It's Actually HIGHER! I've used a DC10-13xl and this HS200 kills it. I couldn't believe the noise attenuation I get from it. Maybe it's the German quality. Forget Zulus and Bose. Save your money.

Love the HS-200s! I'm a studio recording engineer by trade and Beyerdynamic is a well-known and well-respected company who makes incredible microphones and headphones. Based on my past experience with their products I was pretty confident that these aviation headsets would be awesome, and they are:) The noise reduction you get by simply putting them on is great, as good or better than any other headset I've used. ATC and my instructor were crystal clear and I could hear my voice equally well. Considering these are only $250 on PilotMall, which is cheaper than just about any other 'higher end' headset, these are a steal! Oh, I almost forgot to mention the comfort! Very comfortable, more so than any other headset I've tried. At some point I will try the other earcups that are available but the stock set is still super comfy. I bought these with the notion that they could be passenger headsets for my girlfriend if I ever wanted something fancier since they are comfy and don't clamp the head very hard. I dunno, I might be hooked. I guess I'll just have to buy a second pair for her when the time comes:) I could upgrade to the active noise canceling model but I seriously don't think it's necessary with how well these passive sets do noise-wise. Anyways, can't say enough about these. Oh, the carry bag is quite functional as well! Straps for pens, flashlights etc and pockets for charts, logbooks as well. I just can't imagine spending $1000 for Bose when these are so good at 1/4 the price.
