Traffic awareness is everyone's concern, but so has been the cost of traffic systems, until now. PCAS XRX is the first ever portable, passive, stand-alone collision avoidance system for general aviation to offer direction from within the cockpit.
PCAS™, or Portable Collision Avoidance System, is Zaon's solution for providing high-quality, low cost traffic information to the general aviation pilot. XRX is our flagship model, providing a complete picture in a simple, easy-to-use device.
PCAS represents our third generation of proven traffic detection technology. XRX is truly a "Plug and Go" device with its built-in antenna system and built-in display.

Owned Since 2006, Don't Fly W/Out!
I have the opportunity to fly a plane with TCAD and ADS-B at work and I have a Zaon PCAS in my TriPacer. They all miss targets from time to time. I've flown for work and the ADS-B will show traffic and TCAD won't and vice versa. The PCAS works well and helps with my search for traffic in the PA-22 (limited vis with no back window). I bought it in 2006 right after they came out and it has worked great. It has an internal compass that needs to be reset to North every 3 months or so (simple procedure that may take 30secs) or traffic may show in the wrong quadrant (but still is shown). Would I buy again, yep!

It seems that the Zaon XRX does announce traffic in a timely manor but not all targets or potential traffic. It seems to miss as many as it gets. I'm not sure we are using it as designed, but thought we were. We haven't overcome some issue but don't know what it is, yet. We think it will give us timely traffic information once we learn how it functions and how to operate it.
