Besides full voice transmit and receive operation on the Air Band, the VXA-710 Spirit also provides extensive VOR and CDI Navigation tools, along with convenient reception of the FM Broadcast band during down time. Submersible (IPX7)
The VXA-710's case, speaker enclosure, and controls are carefully sealed against water ingress, allowing the transceiver to be specified for protection against water ingress per IPX7 specifications (immersion to 3 feet/1 m for 30 minutes). So you need not fear using your VXA-710 during severe weather.
PC Programmable
The channel configurations can be easily re-programmed in minutes using the optional PC Programming cable (CT-29+CT-97), software (CE75) and your PC. As your operating needs change, you can quickly reprogram your Spirit with the important frequency data you need. Receiver

Compact and functional
The size is unbeatable for squeezing into a full flight bag; reception and sound quality are good. Some online reviewers have complained that the buttons are not intuitive, but I have found the unit easy to use if you spend a few minutes reading the manual.
My only complaint is that the tuning knob on the top of the unit is very easy to bump - there's a 'keypad lock' function but it doesn't apply to the knob, so it's easy to tune yourself off frequency if you bump the unit while using it. Also, the unit comes with a rechargeable battery which works well and has a decent life between charges, but I would still have preferred the option of using in flight replaceable nonrechargeable AAs.

Great Radio
This radio is extremely small and compact so it can fit in even the smallest flight bags. I love how easy it is to use and how clear the reception is.
