Limited Edition Aviation Art by Sam Lyons More Info »
|
Sam Lyon's love of aviation since childhood led him down the road to his present career as a world-renowned aviation artist. His paintings can be found at military bases, museums, aviation gift shops, and in pilots' art collections throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Through his membership in the Air Force Art Program, Sam's painting "Lead Solo" graces the Air Force Art Hall in the Pentagon.
"Tribute to a Legend" features a a 1938 Stinson Reliant SR-10J. The title is significant in two ways. The airplane was legendary in its time, admired for its luxurious, automotive-type features like an artificial wood-grain panel, roll-down windows, cranks and hang straps. The other legend is Jimmy Doolittle. He was Shell Oil's aviation manager in 1938 when Shell Oil purchased the plane. During the next few years Doolittle flew over 100 flights in the Stinson, traveling the country for his employer. This print is produced on acid-free, neutral-pH paper with permanent inks and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The 17.5" x 26" prints are available in a Limited Edition size of 300 Signed & Numbered, 30 Artist Proofs, and 20 Gallery Edition Canvas Giclee with frame.
