Limited Edition Aviation Art by Sam Lyons More Info »
|
Sam Lyon's love of aviation since childhood led him down the road to his present career as a world-renowned aviation artist. His paintings can be found at military bases, museums, aviation gift shops, and in pilots' art collections throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Through his membership in the Air Force Art Program, Sam's painting "Lead Solo" graces the Air Force Art Hall in the Pentagon.
"The Last Air Show" features a brightly colored SIAI Marchetti as it blows past the crowd at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007. Debbie Gary is in the cockpit and she's been thrilling crowds since she became a professional aerobatic pilot in October 1971. Debbie wows her audience one final time in her sleek Italian aircraft. There are some "real" people in the painting, including EAA founder Paul Poberezny; Sam's wife Mindy, Kevin Williamson of CH Products, Dick McSpadden, pilot and father of a former Thunderbird lead pilot; and GA News photographer Will Jones. Sam used himself as a model a few times, changing his shirt, hair or hat. The truest representation of him is the man waving at right, in the red shirt. This print is produced on acid-free, neutral-pH paper with permanent inks and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The 15" x 22.5" prints are available in a Limited Edition size of 200 Signed & Numbered, 20 Artist Proofs and 25 Prints on Canvas.
