Sam Lyon's love of aviation since childhood led him down the road to his present career as a world-renowned aviation artist. His paintings can be found at military bases, museums, aviation gift shops, and in pilots' art collections throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Through his membership in the Air Force Art Program, Sam's painting "Lead Solo" graces the Air Force Art Hall in the Pentagon.
"Red Tail By Request" is the latest P-51 print by Lyon's Studio. This dramatic print was produced from a 2-ft. x 4-ft. original that Sam painted and donated to the Red Tail Project. The original painting was unveiled on July 28 at the 2008 EAA Oshkosh AirVenture. The Red Tail people held a press conference to show off the painting and explain about their fundraising efforts to rebuild a P-51 and honor the Tuskegee Airmen. A man in the audience raised his hand and said he'd write a check right then for $25,000!!! SOLD! You don't have to pay that kind of money for a piece of history. This print is produced on acid-free, neutral-pH paper with permanent inks and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The 15" x 30" prints are available in a Limited Edition size of 500 Signed & Numbered, 50 Artist Proofs, and 25 Prints on Canvas.
