This collectable model A-20G Havoc represents one of the premier light attack bombers of World War II - fast, heavily armed and dependable. Painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by skilled craftsmen using a wealth of detail, this 1/40-scale model A-20G Havoc makes a great gift for any veteran, aviation enthusiast or history buff.

Work on the A-20 Havoc began in the late 1930s at Douglas Aircraft, but the project found little interest from the American military. In 1939, French government ordered 270 of the attack craft. By 1940, the U.S. government had also begun placing orders.

The Havoc, powered by two Wright R-2600 Twin Cyclone radials, was 47 feet long with a wingspan of 61 feet. It could carry up to 4,000 pounds of bombs, as well as four nose-mounted 20mm cannons in the A-20G, later replaced by more reliable machine guns. Top speed was 317 mph, with a combat radius of 915 miles.

On July 4, 1942, a force of 12 A-20 Havocs launched an attack on Dutch airfield, the first U.S. bombing raid in Europe in World War II.

A-20 Havocs served the British, French and Soviet forces, with more than 7,000 aircraft produced. Along with bombing and ground attack missions, the Havoc also served as a night fighter, the P-70. Production of the A-20 ended in 1944.
