The FAA's best selling Basic Helicopter Handbook!
First written in 1978, this handbook has been completely revised for the 21st Century and is now the Rotorcraft Flying Handbook. Designed as a technical manual for applicants who are preparing for their private, commercial, or flight instructor pilot certificates with a helicopter or gyroplane class rating, it represents the "official" information pilots are expected to know.
The textbook provides coverage of topics particular to rotorwing flight, including aerodynamics, flight controls, systems, performance, flight maneuvers, emergencies and aeronautical decision-making. (Topics of concern to all pilots, such as weather, navigation, radio navigation and communications, use of flight information publications and regulations are covered in other FAA publications.) RFH also includes several "advisory circulars" that were previously published separately, including "Helicopter Dynamic Rollover," "Unanticipated Right Yaw in Helicopters," "Safety in and Around Helicopters" and "Hazards of Rotating Propeller and Helicopter Rotor Blades."
