Before aspiring airline pilots can make it to the interview, they need to pass the "paperwork review." Reporting Clear is the definitive pilot's interview guide to background checks and presentation of personal history. Author Cheryl Cage offers an easy, step-by-step guide for the pilot conducting his/her own background check. Titles, addresses, phone numbers, and website information for the agencies they must contact are all here.

Reporting Clear provides answers to many questions including:

  • What exactly is the Pilot Records Improvement Act?
  • How does this Act impact pilots?
  • Why are the airlines interested in every area of the pilot's background?
  • What can pilots do to lower concern about a problem area?
  • What is an addendum, when do pilots need one, and how do they write one?

Cheryl gives you guidance on how to discuss negatives (we all have them!) in your history. Learn what "problem area" paperwork you must provide to an interviewer. She covers the most common mistakes made by pilots and gives specific advice on how to confidently and concisely present background information to an interviewer!

About the Author: Cheryl Cage began offering pilot interview preparation services in 1988. In 1990 the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA--the national airline pilot union representing 36 airlines and over 42,000 professional airline pilots) hired Cheryl to present her Interview Preparation Program to displaced ALPA pilots who had lost their jobs due to airline bankruptcies or furloughs. Her program has been presented to thousands of pilots from Braniff, PanAm, Midway, TWA, US AIRWAYS, and Aspen Airways to name a few.

Cheryl's client list also includes hundreds of military pilots pursuing civilian pilot positions as well as "beginning" pilots taking their first steps towards an airline career.

In addition to the seminars and her work with individual aviation clients, Cheryl has written numerous articles on the airline interview process and pilot career progression for such magazines as Air Line Pilot, Flight Training and the Independence. She also writes a bi-monthly career column titled It's Your Future for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Times.
