Guest Speakers:

Ian Blair Fries, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon, and Senior FAA Aviation Medical Examiner. He began flying while in the United States Air Force, where he served as flight surgeon. He soloed in 1975, and currently flies a TBM. He holds ATP, Instrument Flight Instructor, and LearJet 35/36 ratings. He is a recognized aviation writer and frequent speaker. He serves on the AOPA Air Safety Foundation Board, co-chairs the AOPA Medical Advisory Committee, and is the Aviation Medical Consultant for the Teamsters Local 747.

    A realistic survival story of not once but twice of an aircraft ditching at sea. Capt. Murphy goes into the technical aspects of landing an airplane in the Ocean as well as the spiritual encounter he had at the time.
